So a dislike button could finally be on the horizon, what do you think about that?
Supposedly there was a conference held at Facebook’s headquarters in Menlo Park, California that saw Mark Zuckerberg state the button would be a great way of people expressing empathy. It has been in the pipeline for some time and shall soon be “very close” to having it ready for user testing. The request for this functionality has been questioned since back in 2009, evidence found in Mark Zuckerbergs statement, “People have asked about the ‘dislike’ button for many years…Probably hundreds of people have asked about this, and today is a special day because today is the day that I actually get to say we are working on it, and are very close to shipping a test of it.”
However, some may assume this is a way of preaching negativity towards users posts, which has also been a highly considered point. Mr Zuckerberg has stated he does not want this to be a mechanism with which people could “down vote” others’ posts. It shall simply be a new method or approach for users to leave a “like” as an act of empathy on “sad” posts.
What do you guys think…Is this step for facebook an all round positive way to encourage support on those “sad” posts, or could this be a tool that could be wrongly used in the hands of bullies?!
Some might call it a simple stunt to just keep users interacting with the social media channel…great way to keep themselves in the press!!
